Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire.
-William Butler Yeats

I am lucky to spend each day watching first graders learn and grow. I have been teaching for 29 years and have taught 1st grade, 2nd grade and Kindergarten. I have taught at Frontier Valley since it opened in 2002 and love the supportive community and fantastic kids. I was born in Kansas City, Kansas and moved to Colorado when I was in first grade. My husband and I have been married 27 years and we enjoy the beauty of nature by camping, hiking and walking our fun-loving dog. We have one daughter, Leah, who is in her 2nd year of college at CSU studying to be a high school math teacher. I am a writer as well and have published several stories in the Chicken Soup for the Soul Books. I also self-published my own book Spiritually Fit: God’s Workout for You in 2011.
