Education is not the learning of facts, but the training of the mind to think.

Welcome to third grade at Frontier Valley Elementary! My name is Cindy Holguin and I am excited to be starting my sixth year in the Frontier Valley community. I am beginning my 29th year as an elementary school teacher where I have taught grades kindergarten through third. After receiving my bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of California, Los Angeles and my teaching credential from California State University, Sacramento, I started my career in Elk Grove, California where I taught second grade for four years.I also taught in Palo Alto, California where I experienced first grade (3 years) and kindergarten (6 years). My family relocated to Colorado in 2002 where I was hired at Eagle Ridge Elementary in Lone Tree. I enjoyed ten years at Eagle Ridge teaching kindergarten, first and third grades. Now I am excited about starting my sixth year as a third grade teacher at FVE! My family and I love living in Colorado and when we are not in school we will most likely be found at an ice arena. My two boys (23 and 16) and my husband play or referee hockey. My favorite teams are the San Jose Sharks (where I learned to love the sport) and of course the Colorado Avalanche (which actually was my second favorite team BEFORE I moved to Colorado). In my free time I enjoy reading, baking, walking and hanging out with our dog Miles.
